About travertine

What does filled travertine mean?

Travertine forms with small natural holes. A filled slab has those holes packed with a colored filler and ground flat, so the surface is smooth and easy to clean. An unfilled slab keeps them open for a more textured, rustic look.

Is travertine good for a kitchen?

It suits a kitchen used with care. Travertine is made of calcite, like marble, so it etches from acids and needs sealing. It is more at home on walls, floors, and bathroom surfaces than on a busy countertop.
