About quartzite

The same flowing veining as marble, but hard enough for a countertop. Our most requested kitchen material.

Does quartzite etch?

True quartzite does not etch; stones with calcite or dolomite do. Test an offcut: leave lemon juice or vinegar on it for 5 to 10 minutes. A dull mark means it etches.

What is the difference between quartz and quartzite?

Quartzite is natural stone: hard and heat-resistant but porous, so it needs sealing. Engineered quartz is crushed stone bound with resin: non-porous and never sealed, but keep hot pans off it.
