Pale, glassy and crystalline, and nearly translucent, so light travels into the stone instead of stopping on it. It is normally bought to be backlit -- an island face or a bar front -- rather than laid flat as a worktop.

Natural stone: every slab is different
This is quarried material. Color, veining and movement vary from slab to slab and from bundle to bundle, and no two are the same. The photograph shows one slab and is not the range. Pick the actual slabs off the rack, and take everything your job needs from the same bundle. a later order will be a different block and will not match.
